Asthma Education Summit 2018

The purpose the education summit is to better inform the field on standards in appropriate and effective patient care for individuals with asthma that will therefore increase patient adherence to asthma treatment and reduce the unnecessary visits to the emergency room.

Target Audience

This activity has been designed for physicians and other healthcare professionals interested in the identification and treatment of asthma.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, participatants will be able to:

  • Describe the features of a successful community-based asthma program;
  • Identify asthma disparities in children in the community;
  • Discuss how to integrate the community into asthma programs;
  • List challenges that schools have when a child has asthma;
  • State supports offered by public schools in asthma management;
  • Analyze how housing issues impact asthma control;
  • Recognize mechanisms in improving adherence in asthma patients;
  • State the role of spirometry in asthma management;
  • Illustrate how to use different medications and devices in asthma management properly;
  • Identify educational opportunities in asthma and asthma management;
  • Discuss how to keep the home clean using asthma friendly cleaners and techniques.
