ACOI's 2017 Clinical Challenges in Inpatient Care

Internists and subspecialists have very busy practices which makes it impossible to keep updated on all the medical advances and structural initiatives related to myriad of clinical cases that are presented to them. This conference will fit this gap in internists’ & sub-specialists’ practices.

Target Audience

This activity has been designed for osteopathic internists, subspecialists and other
health professionals attending the Clinical Challenges in Inpatient Care 2017 meeting.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of the activity, the learner will be able to:

  • Understand the management of atrial fibrillation, both medically and with devices;
  • Identify the appropriate population for referral for TAVR, and understand its complications;
  • Describe the most recent developments in management of Systolic Heart Failure, including medications and new devices;
  • Demonstrate ability to interpret ECG accurately in the  hospitalized population;
  • Identify the appropriate use of Newer Oral Anticoagulants and Metformen in the chronic kidney disease patient;
  • Understand the principles of pulmonary management in the hospitalized patient including infection, respiratory support, and proper approach to pulmonary fibrosis;
  • Recognize common misuse of laboratory testing and procedures in the hospitalized patient;
  • Describe the proper use and management of nutrition in critical illness;
  • Relate best practices in efficient transition of care and optimization of length of stay;
  • Understand the MACRA/MIPS changes and their impact on current hospital practice;
