2.   Metabolic maps must be complemented by information about the fluxes through various metabolic pathways for full understanding of metabolic rewiring occurring in many diseases and engineered microorganisms.

3.   Flux maps are generated by the use of stable isotopic tracers and principles of chemical reaction engineering embodied in Metabolic Flux Analysis.
