Learning Objectives:

• Explain the practices of medicalized “gender affirmation” and the phenomenon of detransitioning
• Critically appraise the presence or absence of public or professional dialogue at the University of Chicago (or elsewhere) about the ethical issues at stake in “gender affirmation”
• Make an argument about how clinical ethicists should respond to the phenomenon of detransitioning and how it bears, if at all, on their clinical ethics analysis of “gender affirmation”
