  2. Differentiate opioid-induced respiratory  depression from expected physiologic changes during the dying process
  3. Explore how limited education around end-of-life expectations may contribute to unnecessary escalation of rescue interventions
  4. Propose system-based interventions to prevent inappropriate naloxone administration  in end of life care (education, protocols, order sets)
  1. Review “toolbox” of medications and interventions available to treat pain in cancer patients through the lens of a complex case
  2. Describe the physiologic mechanism of pain transmission with a focus on cingulate gyrus
  3. Explore the role of cingulotomy in the management of refractory cancer pain
