At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Identify key biological hallmarks of aging present in older bladders and in bladders with lower urinary tract symptoms and explain why these findings support the bladder as a target for gerotherapeutic interventions.
- Explain how chronological aging and accelerated biological aging associated with metabolic syndrome increase the risk of lower urinary tract symptoms.
- Summarize the rationale and design of a pilot feasibility study evaluating mitochondrial-targeted therapy (MitoQ) for urinary urgency in older women.
- To understand the association between major depression and biological aging
- To understand the impact of biological aging on health outcomes in major depression
