Objectives:

At the end of this presentation, participants will be able to

  1. Describe the pulse – echo process for creating a B-mode ultrasound image.

  2. Identify blood vessels and their orientation as superficial, deep, proximal and distal points on an ultrasound image.

  3. Identify B-mode artifacts.

  4. Describe the Doppler effect and equation as it relates to Doppler ultrasound waveform creation and the importance of angle.

  5. Identify Doppler waveforms as high or low resistance.

  6. Identify Doppler artifacts.
