Learning Objectives:

1. Define augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) and identify various forms of AAC that might support the communication needs of patients.

2. Outline various resources available to patients in need of assistive technology including how and when to make referrals.

3. Identify features relevant to meet the medical and functional needs of individual users. 

4. Identify access technologies for using computers and mobile technologies to enable a person to complete their work, school, leisure and/or social goals.

5.  Gain knowledge of writing orders for seating and wheeled mobility technology.
