• Influenza and influenza-related complications cause substantial morbidity in children in the United States, infecting over 10 million children annually and resulting in over 40,000 pediatric hospitalizations.
• Influenza causes significant annual burden among children.
• This study creates an algorithm for clinicians to risk stratify children with influenza-like illness (ILI) according to likelihood of influenza infection.
