Objectives:

• Review what is known about Cesarean overuse and its associated morbidity and mortality
• Understand the role that individual providers’ attitudes and beliefs may play in accounting for large variation in Cesarean use
• Understand the role that Labor and Delivery unit culture may play in accounting for large variation in institutional Cesarean section rates
