Objectives:

1. To become acquainted with the diagnostic criteria for a newly recognized clinical entity: clonal hematopoiesis of indeterminate potential (CHIP).

   2. To understand the relationship between somatic mutations in bone marrow stem cells and the generation of clones of mutated leukocytes in peripheral blood.

   3. To learn of the newly recognized links between clonal hematopoiesis and risk of myocardial infarction, stroke, and heart failure events.
