Learning Objectives:

1.  LXR agonists acting on the intestine protect the liver from fibrotic disease after small bowel resection.

2.  Lymphatic outflow from the intestine is altered in Crohn's disease and this may be linked to changes in visceral fat that characterized Crohn's disease.

3.  The omental fat pad in the visceral cavity supports metastatic tumor growth but adipocytes per se do not account for the specialized role of the omentum.
