Description

The MIS Journal Club is an interactive educational activity designed to enhance physician knowledge and competence by providing a structured forum for discussion and critical appraisal of current, evidence-based research in surgery. Each session focuses on recently published articles relevant to surgical techniques, surgical training, and patient outcomes. Faculty and participants engage in in-depth critique of study design, methodology, statistical analysis, and interpretation of findings, emphasizing strengths, limitations, and applicability to clinical practice. Through this process, participants will strengthen their ability to evaluate the quality of medical literature, integrate emerging evidence into surgical decision-making, and apply research findings to improve patient care and surgical education. By fostering scholarly dialogue and peer-to-peer learning, the Journal Club advances new knowledge within the discipline while supporting the core goals of CME—improving physician competence, clinical performance, and ultimately patient outcomes.
