After this presentation, participants will be able to: State the FDA-approved indications for use of the non-vitamin K oral anticoagulants (NOACs); understand the mechanism of action of the NOACs, in comparison to warfarin; know common side effects, drug interactions, and precautions for use of the NOACs; develop a basic understanding of the pharmacokinetics of the NOACs and how they apply to recommendations for peri-procedural management; and, be aware of where NOACs have been incorporated into evidence-based guidelines.
