Faculty Advancing Medical Education (FAME): Improving Skills in Giving Effective Feedback to Learners

Faculty Advancing in Medical Education (FAME) is a faculty development program sponsored by the Academy of Distinguished Medical Educators and the MERITS Program (Medical Education Research, Innovation, Teaching, and Scholarship). FAME supports faculty educators by providing resources and training in key conceptual and practical skills in teaching and assessment.
 
Giving effective feedback to medical student can be challenging. This workshop will provide particpants wih tools and strategies that will help them improve the learning of medical students.

Learning Objectives and Target Audience

At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • List strategies for providing effective feedback;
  • Describe how to give effective feedback in challenging situations; 
  • Prepare feedback for standardized students;
  • Discuss effective feedback strategies for specific student behaviors.
This activity has been designed for faculty members at the University of Chicago and NorthShore University HealthSystem interested in medical education skills.
