Alcohol-related liver disease (ALD) is the leading indication for liver transplant in the United States. Up to 33.5% of patients return to drinking within 10 years post-transplant, which is associated with reduced survival. While we have medications to support abstinence, they are only prescribed to 9% of patients with alcohol use disorder (AUD).
