The Society is dedicated to the advancement of the care of the athlete through physician education, mentorship, athlete advocacy, and scholarship opportunity.

 

The current intervention will be a series of ten one-day training sessions that target clinicians to build competencies in goals-of-care discussions, advance care planning, and referral to supportive care for seriously ill patients, especially those approaching end-of-life.

 

This series will provide participants with the knowledge and skills to manage the emotional and physiological symptoms of stress while identifying and addressing the system drivers of fatigue present in the healthcare environment.

The goal of these activities is to bring awareness to the topic of burnout in healthcare professionals and present strategies to promote resilience that will improve practitioner health and ultimately patient outcomes.

This interactive virtual program will provide patient-centered training for doctors and other healthcare professionals and will emphasize core competencies for responding to individual patient needs, values, and preferences by practicing communication skills such as open-ended inquiry, reflective listening, and empathy.
