Are you interested in learning about different clinical diciplines? Would you like to know more about the ancillary clinical services you partner with to provide patient care?
The clinician exchange program pairs clinicians from different disciplines enabling one or both clinicians to shadow each other as they provide care in a clinical setting.
Research proves the effectiveness of shadowing as tool to improve communication within the interdisciplinary team and safety within the care environment.

Target Audience

This activity has been designed for physicians and other healthcare professionals interested in strengthening interprofessional collaboration and communication skills.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Describe how the different workflows within the interprofessional care team are integrated;
  • State strategies to improve communication between individual providers;
  • Identify ways to better work with individuals of other professions;
  • Discuss how to enhance teamwork within the interprofessional care team;
  • Summarize a working knowledge of one clinician’s daily schedule, work flow prioritization, and role expectations;
  • Analyze the impact of interprofessional collaboration and communication on patient care.
