Objectives: 

  •  Objective 1:Provide an overview of cyst formation in autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease.

  • Objective 2:Introduce the concept of the matricellular protein periostin as a repair molecule overexpressed in genetic forms of PKD.

  • Objective 3:Present in vitro and in vivo evidence for the role of periostin on cyst growth and the decline in kidney function in PKD.
